Each year, Boys Town South Florida partners with local business and community representatives in support of troubled children right here in our region. Our event is one of our own Boys Town families with the Family of the Year Award, for their journey through a guided intervention and their commitment to the unit of family.

This year’s event is chaired by Natalie M. Harger and a wonderful committee of talented women, all with one common interest: to save South Florida families. As a guest, you will enjoy a spectacular event featuring a silent and live auction, three course meal and live entertainment.

17th Annual Thanksgiving Basket Brigade

The Basket Brigade, sponsored in conjunction with the Anthony Robbins Foundation, assembles and delivers Thanksgiving food baskets to needy children and families. Last year, more than 200 families received the gifts of food. The Basket Brigade is held in honor of National Family Week, November 23-29, 2008, emphasizing the connections that support and strengthen families.

The Junior League of the Palm Beaches is a proud sponsor of the 2008 Basket Brigade.

The packaging of the Thanksgiving Food Baskets will begin at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, November 21 at Boys Town South Florida Headquarters. We need the help of volunteers with pick up trucks to pick up the food from the local grocery store and deliver it to the site. Assembly of the baskets will begin at 9:30 am (promptly) and should take about 15-20 minutes. The deliveries begin as soon as the baskets are complete.

Volunteers of all ages and donations of $25, to feed a family of 4-6, are greatly needed. All proceeds will be used to purchase the food for the families. Hope for the Holidays
December 2008

Each year, Boys Town South Florida Region recruits businesses, organization, and individuals to sponsor needy children during the holiday season. The annual event provides bikes, toys and holiday cheer for children whose families would otherwise be unable to provide Christmas gifts.

How It Works:

Sponsors will be assigned a child or children and given paper ornaments with specific information about each child (first name, age, and wish list). These ornaments are intended to be hung on a tree or posted on a bulletin board. Sponsors commit to purchasing and wrapping gifts (optional) for their assigned child and delivering the items to Boys Town South Florida headquarters, by Wednesday, December 17. Unwrapped gifts should be delivered on or before Friday, December 12.

As you purchase gifts for each child, please wrap and label them, with the child's name. We will provide gift ideas based on the child's interests. We also encourage gifts that promote family togetherness such as board games, or craft projects.

• Tell us how may children you would like to sponsor. You can sponsor anywhere from 1-50 children. Some sponsors request to sponsor a "family", and Boys Town South Florida will be happy to provide those sponsors with sibling groups. Ornaments will be delivered to you by the week of November 10th.
  
• For those of you with no time or desire to shop, we will also accept cash donations to be used to purchase gifts for the children. We will purchase the gifts on your behalf. Donations can be made payable to Boys Town South Florida, and mailed to our address below to the attention of: Hope for the Holidays.
