Field Trips
Give your students a lesson in history and hope. Make plans to visit our historic Village today! Besides visiting our many attractions, your tour can include: Picnic/LunchYour class can enjoy a picnic on the grounds surrounding our lake (weather permitting and permission required), eat a sack lunch in our Fieldhouse, or sit down for a hot meal in our Visitors Center Café. Lesson PlansAn educational excursion to the Village wouldn’t be complete without learning more about the man who transformed the way America cared for its youngest citizens – Father Edward J. Flanagan. A resource guide to develop a class unit on Father Flanagan, including a list of class activities for all A wonderful way to introduce students to the Village is with a screening of the 1938 Academy Award-winning film Boys Town. Hollywood legend Spencer Tracy won an Oscar (which is displayed in our Hall of History) for his portrayal of Father Flanagan. We can send you a DVD or VHS tape before your visit, (free of charge) and you can return the movie to the Visitors Center upon your arrival. You can also purchase the movie for your school’s video library. Special pricing is available. Souvenir BagsA souvenir bag is a wonderful way for your students to remember their visit.
