Boys Town Programs

Boys Town has a large variety of cutting-edge child-care programs to help children, families and other child-care providers. Here is a sampling of these services:

Residential Services   (top)

There are more than 100 long-term, residential-care homes for troubled youth, featuring family style living in the least-restrictive environment. The Village of Boys Town has 70 of these homes. Other homes are located at Boys Town sites in Brooklyn, New York; Washington, D.C.; Tallahassee and Orlando, Florida; New Orleans, Louisiana; Texas, Texas; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Orange County, California.

Emergency Shelter/Emergency Short-Term Residential Services (top)

Short-term emergency care in a family style environment for troubled and runaway youths. These services emphasize family reunification, if it is in the best interest of the child. These services are offered in Brooklyn and the Bronx, N.Y.; Washington, D.C.; Sanford and Orlando, Florida; New Orleans and Gretna, Louisiana; Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania; Texas, Texas; Grand Island, Nebraska; Las Vegas, Nevada; Atlanta, Georgia; Newark; and Long Beach and Los Angeles, California.

Family Preservation Services (top)

An intensive in-home counseling service for families in crisis. Boys Town counselors directly work with these families to build upon their strengths, heal their pain and keep them together as a functional and vital family unit. Family Preservation Services are offered in Glenwood, Iowa; Texas, Texas; and in Los Angeles and Orange Counties in California.

Treatment Foster Family Services (top)

This program provides treatment and care to children who need more specialized care than they can receive in a traditional foster care placement. Boys Town recruits, selects and carefully trains foster parents, who take children into their private homes and provide them with treatment in supportive nurturing environments. This program is offered in Portsmouth, Rhode Island; Washington, D.C., and Tallahassee, FL.

Residential Treatment Center (top)

This program exists to help troubled youth, ages 7 to 18, with psychiatric disorders. The center, located on the campus of the Boys Town National Research Hospital, combines the medical and psychiatric expertise of Father Flanagan's Boys Town and Alegent Health, applying the nationally recognized Boys Town Psychoeducational Treatment Model.

Common Sense Parenting® (top)

The program provides a series of comprehensive parent training sessions, adapting Boys Town's effective child-care methods to help today's families grow stronger in constructive and appropriate ways. To view additional information on this program, click one of the locations below:
